October 22nd/2006 Vipers/Boathaulers Combine For 17 Goals Souris- It wasn't pretty, but the fans left Souris with their money's worth after the Kensington Vipers held on for a 9-8 win over the host Kings County Boathaulers. With Kensington holding a 5-3 lead entering the third, the two teams exploding in the final frame for nine goals, including a pair by Kings County in the final two minutes to provide some late game drama. The line of Kirk MacPhee (0-4), Brodie Sanderson (3-1), and Matt Weeks (1-3) supplied much of the damage for the Vipers, registering a combined 12 points, while Brett Vessey chipped in with a goal and two helpers. For the Boathaulers, Chris Bruce netted a pair of goals, while Steff Cudmore chipped in with four helpers. Rookie Jacob Beck and Daniel MacInnis added a goal and two assists each. Kings County fired 51 shots at winning goaltender Denver Clark, while the duo of Mitchell Jay and Adam Hergert faced 42 shots in the Boathauler net. |
