6-2 Win in Summerside
Summerside- The Sherwood Falcons regained their scoring touch over
the final two games of the IJHL final, culminating in a 6-2 victory
Thursday and a six game series victory against the Kensington Vipers. The
Falcons will now advance to represent PEI at the Don Johnson Cup in
Newfoundland April 16-19.
After spotting the Vipers a 1-0 lead after the opening period on a Cory
Conway goal, the Falcons would reel off three straight goals in a two
minute span midway through the second period, before a Mark Paynter goal
would close the gap to 3-2 entering the third period. Robbie Chandler,
Brodie MacDonald, and Craig Cameron had netted the Sherwood goals. Third
period goals by MacDonald, Brent Coade, and Jason Morais would seal the
victory for Sherwood. Tyler MacDonald earned the win for the Falcons,

Vipers Look to Force Game Seven at
Credit Union Place
Kensington- The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers will
be looking for some deja-vu this Thursday when they host the Sherwood
Falcons at Credit Union Place in Summerside in game 6 of the IJHL finals .
The Vipers trail the series 3 - 2 after a 5 - 2 loss on Sunday night in
Sherwood . Game time Thursday night is 7:30.
The Vipers claimed the IJHL title last year in game 6 at the Credit Union
Place before 1000 fans and are hoping to win again to force a game 7 in
Charlottetown on Saturday night . The Vipers were forced to play game 6 in
Summerside due to the ice being removed at Community Gardens In
Kensington. "We would like to be at our normal home for a big game like
this but there is nothing we can do about it, " states Viper GM Pat
McIver. "With minor hockey and all other user groups done for the season,
it just isn't feasible to stay open for one more playoff game" .
The Vipers come in facing adversity again and have been down that road
before. "We lost the 1st two games of both series so far and have bounced
back in games that were must wins. We feel with the rest that we will be
able to bounce back and force a game seven "
Tickets have gone on sale at the Credit Union Place box office and can be
picked up in advance. With there being a break in the Caps schedule and
with no other playoff hockey going on, the Vipers hope to draw a great
crowd to the game in what has been a terrific playoff series between two
evenly matched teams thus far .
Falcons Reclaim Series Lead After 5-2
Win Sunday Evening
Sherwood- The Sherwood Falcons had lost their scoring touch since a
4-2 victory in game one against the Kensington Vipers, scoring just three
goals in three games, but they struck for five goals Sunday in dropping
the Vipers 5-2 and gaining a 3-2 series advantage and an opportunity to
wrap things up Thursday night at Credit Union Place in Summerside.
After playing through a scoreless opening period, the teams erupted for
four goals and 33 shots on net in the middle frame, and entered the third
period tied 2-2. Craig Cameron would break the deadlock just 1:46 into the
third period, and than would add an insurance marker at the 13:22 mark.
Sam Siddall would add the exclamation point just 18 seconds later. Shawn
McManaman and Cameron Webster had goals for the Vipers in the second
period while Robbie Chandler and Jon Vloet replied for Sherwood. Chris

Vipers Even Series at 2-2 Following
2-1 Victory Saturday Night
Kensington- The Sherwood Falcons and Kensington Vipers met Saturday
night in yet another tight contest decided by a single goal, and it was
defenceman Scott Bernard's powerplay goal at the11:50 mark of the second
period that would prove to be the winner as the Vipers took the 2-1
decision and evened the series at two games apiece. The teams played
through a scoreless first period. The Sherwood Falcons would then strike
for the game's first goal 8:23 into the second period, as Jon Vloet would
score with the man advantage. That lead didn't last for long, as affiliate
Jeremy Jollimore tied the game just seven seconds later. As has been the
story of the series, both netminders had solid outings, with Todd Gregory
picking up the win on the strength of a 30 save performance. Tyler
MacDonald was the hard luck loser, facing 43 Viper shots, including
turning aside all 18 shots in the third period to give the Falcons a
chance to tie the game. The teams have little time to recover from game
four, as they will meet again tomorrow evening at 7:30 at Cody Banks
Arena.
Gregory Bests Dalziel in Goaltending
Battle as Vipers Strike Back
Sherwood- Netminders Todd Gregory of the Kensington Vipers and
Sherwood's Chris Dalziel locked horns in an old fashioned goaltending
duel, and it took just one goal to decide the outcome, as Nick Reilly
scored the game's lone goal in a 1-0 Kensington win Thursday night. With
the win, the Viper's jumped right back into the series, now trailing
Sherwood 2-1 heading into Saturday evening's fourth game in Kensington.
Gregory would make 23 saves in picking up the shutout while Dalziel turned
aside 30 of 31 shots. Reilly scored the game's only goal 8:34 into the
opening period, and the netminders took over from there, holding the
league's top offensive teams at bay. Bad blood spilled over at the
conclusion of the game, as the Vipers picked up 69 penalty minutes,
including a fighting major, while coaches Wade Waddell of the Vipers and
Jason Denomme of the Falcons were each assessed game misconducts.
Falcons Look to Take Stranglehold on
IJHL Final Thursday Night
Sherwood- The Sherwood A&S Scrap Metal Falcons will look to take a
3-0 lead in the Island Junior Hockey League finals against arch-rival
Kensington Vipers Thursday evening at 8:30 pm at the Cody Banks Arena in
Sherwood.

from the Vipers in a multi-player deal, was the game two hero, scoring
with 57 seconds remaining to give the Falcons a 2-1 win against his former
teammates. The Falcons won game 1 of the series 4-2.
Goaltending has been a huge story thus far, in this, the 9th
consecutive playoff meeting between the Falcons and the Vipers. Chris
Dalziel and Tyler MacDonald have both turned in 40 plus save performances
for the Falcons while former Charlottetown Abbie and PEI Rocket Todd
Gregory has made a number of spectacular saves in the Viper goal. Gregory,
who is playing in his final season of junior hockey, will be looking to
turn-in another strong performance in an effort to get his team back in
the series.
"We have a long history with Kensington, and we've learned many
times that they have a lot of character in their room and will never quit.
We know they'll come out gunning in game three. It takes four games to win
a series, not two. We haven't won anything yet," said Falcons coach Colin
Hansen after their game two victory.
Game four of the series will be played Saturday night in
Kensington, while the teams will return to Cody Banks Arena Sunday for a
game five if needed. The winner of the series will represent PEI at the
Don Johnson Cup in Newfoundland April 16-19.
Siddall Burns Former
Teammates With Last Minute Goal
Kensington-
Sam Siddall scored with just 57 seconds remaining in the third period
to snap a 1-1 tie and lift the Sherwood Falcons to a 2-1 win and a 2-0
series lead against the Kensington Vipers. Kensington opened the scoring
with the lone first period goal, as Morgan Cooke scored on the powerplay,
with Nick Reilly and Thomas McSweeney drawing assists. Sherwood would knot
the score at 1-1 on a powerplay tally of their own, as Grant MacAulay
would beat Todd Gregory at the 17:11 mark of the middle frame, with Jason
Morais and Chris Boswell assisting. That set the stage for Siddall's
heroics. Morais and MacAulay would draw assists to finish with two point
nights. Tyler MacDonald turned in his best start of the playoffs, as the
rookie stopped 43 of 44 shots, while Gregory was equally impressive,
making 39 saves on 41 shots. The series resumes Thursday night in
