Falcons Tie for Second with Win over Maniacs

SHERWOOD, PE—The Sherwood A & S Scrap Metal Falcons earned a 5-3 victory over the Montague Down East Maniacs in Wednesday action of the Marks Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League. With the win, the Falcons move into a tie for second place in the five team league with the Western Red Wings. Both teams now have 15 points.
Scoring for the Falcons, 7-5-1 (wins, losses, overtime/shootout losses), were Grant MacAulay (2), Alex Smith (1-1), Kyle Reardon, and Brett MacDonald. Brodie MacDonald (3), Johnny Vloet, and Mark Walker earned assists.
Matt Morrison, Ben Brammer, and Josh MacDonald all scored for Down East, who fell to 5-8-0 on the season. Assisting were Tyler Gallant, Jordan Hughes, and Jarrett Bernard.
Tyler MacDonald earned the goaltending win for Sherwood, stopping 33 of 36 shots in the game. Travis Willis suffered the loss for Down East, turning aside 25 of 30.
Referee Tim Hamel assessed nine minor penalties in the game, seven to Down East. Jackson Doughart and Jeff Heron were the linesmen.
