Mark's Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League action will continue on Sunday night, when the Western Red Wings host the Down East Maniacs. The game will be played at the Tyne Valley Community Sports Centre on Sunday, beginning at 7:30 p.m.
This will be the fifth meeting between the two teams, with the Red Wings getting six out of a possible eight points. The Wings are hot as of late, picking up seven of eight points in their last four games. Their most recent victory came at the hands of the Kensington Vipers last Sunday night at home, as they defeated the first-place club 3-1. The also beat the Sherwood Falcons 6-2 in Sherwood to move into second place.
The Maniacs are also playing good hockey. They are just three points behind Sherwood, sitting in the fourth spot.
"The Eastern and Western teams are the two most physical teams in the IJHL," estimates Wings' head coach Hal Schurman. "It is always good old time hockey when these teams hook up."
