Hughes Leads Maniacs Over Builders

MONTAGUE, PE-- Jordan Hughes scored twice and added an assist to lead the Montague Down East Maniacs to a 5-3 victory over the Charlottetown Metro Builders in Marks Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League action Friday. The game was played at the Montague Wellness Center.

Jarrett Bernard, Aaron Fitzpatrick, and Matt Morrison also scored for the Maniacs. Assisting were Justin Hancock (2), Chris MacPhee, Josh MacDonald, Colby Bruce, Tyler Gallant, Tyler Haight, and Joe MacKinnon. Travis Willis recorded the goaltending win.

Ryan Chaisson and Mike Waddell each scored a goal and an assist to lead Charlottetown in a losing effort. Also scoring was Steve Noddin, while Stephen Cassidy (3), and Willie Whelan recorded assists. Chris Chandler suffered the goaltending loss.

Referee Paul Matte assessed a total of 15 minor penalties in the game, nine to Down East. Each team was also assessed one fighting major, while Jonathon Bouchey and TJ Courtney were the linesmen.
