Vipers Top Arch-Rival Wings in Feisty Affair

TYNE VALLEY, PE—The Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers narrowly defeated the Western Red Wings in Marks Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League play Sunday evening. The feisty affair was played in Tyne Valley.

Shawn McManaman scored the winning goal for the Vipers, shorthanded, at 18:59 of the second period. The Vipers later added an insurance marker to seal the win, while McManaman also contributed three assists on the evening. Also scoring were Colin Webster (1-1), Cameron Webster, Jeff MacIsaac, and Graham Telford. Earning assists were Tyler Doucette, Nick Reilly, and Mitch Gallant, while Logan Reid earned the goaltending win stopping 34 of 38 shots.

Alex Noonan lead the way for the Wings, scoring three times and adding an assist. Kris MacEwen also scored, while TJ Campbell (3), Pat LeFrank (2), Kendall Hackett and Kris Read also assisted. Alex Robertson allowed six goals on 32 shots in suffering the loss in goal.

The Vipers held period leads of 3-2, and 5-3 respectively, and have increased the first place lead over the Wings to five points in league standings.

Referee Steven Green assessed a total of ten minor penalties in the game, seven to Kensington. Each team also received eight fighting majors, while the Vipers received one ten-minute misconduct and two game misconducts and the Wings received one game misconduct.
