Vipers top Red Wings on Boxing Day

KENSINGTON, PE- The Kensington Moase Plumbing & Heating Vipers picked up a win in Marks Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League boxing-day action played at the Kensington Community Gardens Saturday. The Vipers defeated the rival Western Red Wings by a score of 5-2.

Scoring for Kensington were Kendall Costello (1-2), Shawn MacManaman (1-1), Cameron Webster (1-1), Jeremy Jollimore (1-1), and Thomas McSweeney. Assisting were Allan Clow, Mitchell Gallant, and Nick Reilly. Logan Reid was solid in goal, stopping 40 of 42 shots.

Alex Noonan (1-1), and TJ Campbell (1-1) scored for the Red Wings, while Jackie Ray Bernard earned a single assist in his first game of the season with the team. Alex Robertson suffered the goaltending loss stopping 43 of 47 shots.

The Vipers held period leads of 2-0, and 2-1 respectively.

Referee Mike Annear assessed 13 minor penalties in the game, seven of which were called against Western. The Red Wings were also charged with two ten-minute misconducts and a gross misconduct.
