Maniacs Double-Up First Place Vipers

MONTAGUE, PE—The Montague Down East Maniacs picked up a big win in Marks Work Wearhouse Island Junior Hockey League action played Tuesday evening in Souris, defeating the Kensington Moase Plumbing and Heating Vipers by a score of 4-2.
Former Viper Ben Sherren scored a pair of goals and added an assist to lead the Maniacs, while Josh MacDonald (1-2), and Colby Bruce also scored. Ben Brammer and Jarrett Bernard each recorded a single assist. Travis Willis earned the goaltending win, turning aside 21 of the 23 shots he faced.
Shawn MacManaman, and Thomas McSweeney scored for the Vipers, who were short several players in the loss. Assisting were Mitchell Gallant, and Jeremy Jollimore, while Logan Reid allowed four goals on 35 shots in suffering the goaltending loss.
The Maniacs lead 1-0 after the first period, and the two teams were tied at two after forty minutes, before Sherren scored a pair of third-period goals to seal the victory.
